It’s now around six weeks until we open ICCDU XIV in the Diamond (below) at The University of Sheffield. This is the first time the conference has come to the United Kingdom and we are hoping to make this a special experience for everyone. The social event on Sunday has been put together to give you a taste of Sheffield at an historic museum showcasing Sheffield’s industrial past.

The main conference area is The Diamond, a state of the art engineering facility that is less than a year old. Stunning architecture and amazing lecture facilities will lend to an excellent atmosphere for the scientific sessions. There is an incredible array of high quality Plenary and Keynote lectures and abstracts for oral presentations. Final touches are being put to the timetable and this will be released soon. We have organized with a major open access journal to publish one or more special issues dedicated to the Conference: full papers not conference proceedings. You are encouraged to begin writing submissions in advance of the imminent announcement; we are currently arranging a discounted rate for Gold Open Access. If we get enough papers the publishers have agreed to publish the complete works as an e-book.

Please encourage your colleagues to attend and publish their work. We look forward to welcoming you to Sheffield in September.

Warm regards
Prof. Peter Styring
